FAQ Bikepark vor Ort

Dein erster Besuch

FAQs

No - the bike park is for everyone, from your very first trail run to full send on the downhill line. But the most important thing first: pay attention to the trail colours. They show you which trail matches your level - and this isn't just a recommendation, it's crucial for your safety.

As a beginner or first-time visitor: ride green trails only, and at most blue trails slowly. Our Beginner & Kids Area is designed to let you find your feet at your own pace. Stay loose, practise your basic position, have fun - the rest follows naturally.

Please do not ride red or black trails without experience - there is a real risk to your life! These trails are steep, technical and feature drops, gaps and jumps that require skill and experience. Only progress when you truly feel confident.

Start with the green trails - they're wide, gentle and designed for finding your feet:

- Beginner & Kids Area: The perfect start - free, no ticket needed, ideal for practising body position, braking and first small features.
- Schneewittchen Trail: A relaxed flow trail that gives you a first feel for turns and gentle gradient.
- Fairy Trail: Another green trail with smooth flow - great for your first lift runs.

Once you feel confident, the blue trails are next:

- KyrHill: Flowy turns and moderate gradient - the classic transition trail.
- SRAM Flow Country: Rolling flow with tables and berms - loads of fun once you've got the basics.
- Fly By: Easy to intermediate, good for pushing your limits gradually.

And don't worry: walking a section or skipping a feature is completely normal. Even the pros started that way.

Our trails are colour-coded by difficulty:

Green - VERY EASY: Wide, gentle lines. Perfect for first runs and warming up.
Blue - EASY: Moderate gradient, first features and berms. For those who've got the basics down.
Red - INTERMEDIATE: Steeper, roots, rocks, more demanding features. Protectors required (knee + chest/back).
Black - DIFFICULT: Steep, technical, drops, gaps. Experienced riders only. Full body protection required.

Only progress when you feel confident.

It depends on which trails you want to ride. The key factor is the bike category - based on suspension travel, frame and intended use:

Green trails (Easy): Category 2+ - sturdy trail bikes with approx. 120-150 mm travel.
Red trails (Medium): Category 3+ - all-mountain or enduro bikes with 150-180 mm travel.
Black trails (Hard): Category 4+ - enduro or downhill bikes with 180 mm+.
iXS Downhill Line: Category 5 recommended - full downhill or freeride bikes with 200 mm.

Basic rules: Single-track mountain bikes only (no e-bikes, tandems, fatbikes from category 3). Full-face helmet mandatory. No carbon handlebars, no bar ends. Thru-axles required from category 4.

Check your bike before riding: Fork, axles, tires, brakes - all good? When in doubt, ask a professional.

Full details on categories, bike types and pre-ride checks on our info page "The right bike park bike".

No bike of your own? No problem - reserve a rental at the Bikestation. Our fleet is made up of current Ghost bikes for all levels and sizes.

Sure - it depends on the trail. A trail bike (approx. 120-150 mm travel) works well on green and blue trails. For red trails, we recommend at least an enduro with 150-180 mm - the terrain gets more technical and your bike needs the reserves.

On black trails (iXS Downhill Line, BLACK LINE 1.0), a trail bike isn't suitable - that's downhill bike territory. Bottom line: you know your bike best. Be realistic about your equipment and progress step by step. Full details on bike categories on our info page "The right bike park bike".

You'll find the current trail map on our website under the Trails section - showing all trails with difficulty rating, lift access and current status at a glance.

On site, the trail map is displayed at the info board right at the park entrance - perfect for getting an overview before your first run. You can also pick up a printed flyer version at the ticket machines or the Bikestation. Trails are colour-coded by difficulty: green (Very Easy), blue (Easy), red (Medium) and black (Hard). That way you'll quickly find the right line for your level.

A ticket includes lift access and trail usage combined - the turnstiles at the lift stations read it automatically. The Beginner & Kids Area is free and accessible at any time.

The grounds themselves are open: explore, discover spots, soak up the vibe - no ticket needed. Enjoy the views from the Panorama Bridge, make memories at Erlebnisberg Kappe, or take a walk on the Panorama trail (careful: bike trails cross here - stay alert!).

Yes. A full-face helmet is mandatory on all trails. The only exception: a half-shell helmet is sufficient in the Beginner & Kids Area. However, we strongly recommend a full-face for the larger jumps in the area. Full-face helmets are available to rent or buy at the Bikestation.

Öffnungszeiten, Saison & Wetter

FAQs

2026 season: April 24 to November 8. Standard hours: lifts & trails 09:30-17:30, bike station 09:00-18:00.

Outside the season, trail riding is strictly prohibited. The area is closed, there is no rescue or medical service and the trails are not maintained.

In winter, the Kappe mountain and parts of the bike park area become part of the Skiliftkarussell Winterberg ski resort. The bike trails remain closed and must not be used for skiing or snowboarding. This increases erosion on the trails and delays spring clean-up work - Even when there's snow on the trails - we know how tempting that is - please stay off the trails. Hidden rocks and boulders under the snow cover can cause serious injuries.

Only the Beginner & Kids course remains accessible outside opening hours during the season - at your own risk and without medical service. All other trails and the lifts are closed. Our safety rules still apply (helmet required, respect closures, keep emergency routes clear). A half-shell helmet is sufficient in the Beginner & Kids Area, but we strongly recommend a full-face helmet for the larger jumps.

At the trail board at the bike park entrance (right in front of the practice area, next to the ticket machine - the Bikestation is 20 metres to the right) and online in the trail map. Closures (e.g. due to weather, forestry work, or maintenance) may occur at any time - please follow signage and instructions from the crew.

Safety first: in thunderstorms or strong winds, lift operations are stopped immediately. Please clear the trails as quickly as possible and find shelter - e.g. at the Bikestation or the Panorama Café. Our crew will reopen the trails as soon as conditions allow. Please don't ride again until clearance is given.

There can be several reasons: maintenance on trails or features, trail building on new sections, forestry work on the terrain, heavy rain or other hazardous situations. Closures are always for rider safety - please respect all barriers and don't enter closed areas.

Depends on intensity. In light rain we usually keep riding - most trails handle wet conditions well. In heavy rain or thunderstorms we shut down until conditions are safe again.

Some trails are closed sooner in wet weather than others - especially sections with wooden features like North Shore, because wet wood gets extremely slippery.

Check the info board at the Bikestation and the trail map for current closures.

Tickets & Preise

FAQs

No - we don't limit ticket numbers. Everyone who visits us gets a ticket. So there's no need to book in advance just to make sure you can get in.

The only exception: in extreme weather conditions (e.g. storms), the lifts may not run and operations may be suspended. In that case, naturally no tickets are sold either.

On busy days there may be longer lift queues - but you'll still get your ticket.

Yes. For self-powered uphill access (e.g. by e-bike), a trail-use ticket is available. Lift access is not included. For the climb, please use public roads - riding uphill on the trails is prohibited. Available at the Bikestation. Trail-use tickets are per day; no multi-day options or discounts.

Our online shop (bikepark-winterberg.de): Buy tickets and have them shipped by post (allow for delivery time!) or use Click & Collect - printed and ready to pick up at the Bikestation (already paid, just grab it).

Starjack ticket shop: Buy tickets and reload existing keycards directly online. Collect via pick-up voucher at the ticket machine (scan QR code). Important: Starjack tickets can only be collected at the machine, not at the Bikestation.

On site: At the Bikestation ticket desk or at the ticket machine (wooden hut next to the trail map).

Our keycard is a reusable plastic card used for the following tickets:
- Multi-day tickets (combi tickets)
- Season tickets
- Ride tickets (10-ride/20-ride)
- Gravity Card

Each keycard has a serial number that lets you reload and reuse it via the Starjack online shop - no need to buy a new card every time. You can also order a personalized card there.

For day tickets and half-day tickets, we use a paper version - no keycard needed.

Yes. Every keycard has a deposit:
- Multi-day tickets (combi tickets): EUR 5
- Ride tickets (10-ride/20-ride): EUR 5
- Season ticket: EUR 5
- Gravity Card: EUR 2

No deposit on: day tickets, half-day tickets, deposit tickets, and trail-use tickets (all paper tickets).

Return: Hand it in at the Bikestation ticket desk - you'll get your deposit back in cash on the spot. Returns by post with bank transfer refund are unfortunately not possible.

Our tip: Just keep the card! You can reload it via the Starjack online shop for your next visit. The deposit never expires.

Best to keep it on your left side - in your left pants pocket or somewhere on your left arm. The reader at the lift turnstile is at belly height, so you'll scan automatically as you walk through.

Please note: Don't put the ticket in your shoes or under your foot sole! The RFID chip in the ticket is sensitive and can easily get damaged this way.

On our pricing page on the website or as a PDF download in our 2026 price list (here). You'll find all ticket, rental, and package prices at a glance.

A flexible day ticket with no fixed date. Buy it in advance and redeem it whenever you like - valid on any operating day of the season. Perfect as a gift or if you want to keep your options open. Available in the online shop or at the Bikestation ticket desk. To redeem on the day: just walk through the lift turnstile - your first pass starts the validity. No extra activation needed.

Our price categories are based on birth year - not exact birthday. Keeps things simple for everyone.

Season 2026:
- Adult: Born 2008 or earlier (19+ years)
- Youth: Born 2009 - 2010 (17 - 18 years)
- Child: Born 2011 - 2020 (6 - 16 years)
- Toddler: Born 2021 or later (0 - 5 years) - the bike park is only accessible from age 6. Toddlers may only use the practice area in front of the Bikestation (free, no ticket, accompanied by a guardian)

Good to know: At the boundaries, the birth-year system may differ slightly from actual age. Example: Born 2008 turns 18 in 2026 but already pays the adult rate. Born 2010 turns 16 but pays the youth rate.

Lift access: From 1.25 m height (unaccompanied). No height restriction when accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Yes! The Gravity Card is a season pass accepted at many leading bike parks across Europe - and Bikepark Winterberg is one of them. Just hold your card at the turnstile and go. If you'd like to buy your Gravity Card from us or have any questions, come to the Bikestation. Everything about lost cards, replacements or injury refunds can be found in the official Gravity Card rules on their website.

Erstattung & Umbuchung

FAQs

Yes. Unused tickets (no initial scan) are refunded on the same day. Just bring your ticket to the ticket desk at the Bikestation.

Generally no. No refunds for used tickets, bad weather, closure, or force majeure. No partial refunds either.

Only exception: In case of severe all-day storm warnings that prevent lift operations entirely, we won't open at all. In that case, just send us an email at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de and we'll take care of the cancellation. We don't want anyone driving through a storm just for a refund.

Tip: A deposit ticket keeps you flexible - no fixed date, redeemable on any operating day. Simply come back another day.

No. A ticket is always available - but on busy days there may be longer lift queues. With half-day or short-time tickets this can feel "shorter" as fewer runs fit into the available time.

Quick reality check before you come: school holidays, weekends, events, and perfect weather are the biggest crowd drivers. If a busy day is likely, a longer ticket can be the more relaxed choice - more room for breaks, runs, and everything that makes your day great.

The Winterberg season pass is non-refundable.

The Gravity Card has its own rules:

Refund: Only for injury, accident, or illness with a medical certificate + return of the original card (in person or by post). Refund calculated weekly: 90% after week 1, 10% less each subsequent week. No refund after week 10. Park closures (e.g. weather) are not grounds for a refund.

Lost card: Report the loss at any Gravity partner. A replacement can be ordered with your ID - processing fee EUR 25.

Full details on the Gravity Card website.

The basic rule: once used, no refund possible. If you have a multi-day ticket and get injured, we'll refund the remaining unused days. We need a medical certificate confirming you're unable to ride on the remaining days. Submit it at the Bikestation ticket desk or email it to themother@bikepark-winterberg.de.

No. Tickets are personal and non-transferable. We carry out continuous checks to ensure tickets are used correctly. This covers two points:

- Resale/transfer: Please don't sell your ticket or buy used tickets from others.
- Wrong age category: Riding with a ticket for the wrong age group is fraud.

In both cases, both parties (buyer and seller) are liable and face at minimum ticket confiscation.

Only exception: The ride ticket (10-ride/20-ride) - designed for sharing and valid across all age categories.

Sicherheit, Ausrüstung & Regeln

FAQs

Protective equipment depends on the trail colour:

Green: Full-face helmet (exception B&K Area: half-shell helmet is sufficient)
Blue: Full-face helmet + knee/shin guards
Red: Full-face helmet + knee/shin guards + chest/back protector
Black: Full body protection (full-face + chest/back + elbow + knee/shin)

Requirements are posted at each trail entrance. Anyone riding without the required protective equipment must surrender their ticket and will be removed from the premises without exception.

Strong recommendation: Always ride with bike gloves and proper bike shoes - both make a huge difference in grip and control. Gloves are available at the Bikestation.

Yes! At the Bikestation you can rent full-face helmets, protectors (chest/back, knee, elbow) and accessories.

We also carry a small but carefully curated selection from our partners, including:
- Gloves & MTB goggles (100%)
- Protectors & helmets (iXS, Leatt)
- Schwalbe tires (e.g. the new Bikepark Super Downhill or Super Gravity)
- SRAM/RockShox parts (brake pads, chainrings, cassettes etc.)
- GoPros, mounts & accessories
- Bikepark Winterberg merch: tees, hoodies, caps

Drop by the Bikestation or browse our online shop.

Yes - to keep everyone safe and relaxed, there are a few clear rules:

Trails are one-way only - riding or pushing uphill is not allowed, and neither are pedestrians on bike trails.
Child transport on trails (child seats, shotgun systems, trailers) is prohibited.
Full-face helmet is mandatory, additional protective gear and body armour are required depending on trail colour and clearly signposted - no gear, no ride.
• Closed trails stay closed, and stopping on landings or blind crests is life-threatening for riders behind you.
Emergency routes (especially in front of the Bikestation) must remain clear at all times.
Unauthorized trail building or modifications to features are not allowed.
Motorized two-wheelers such as e-motocross or Surron bikes are not permitted on trails.
Drones may only fly with written permission.
Litter and glass belong in the bin, not on the trail.
Alcohol and smoking are not permitted in riding areas (trails, lifts, queues).
Drugs are banned on the entire premises - no exceptions.

Violations may result in ticket confiscation and removal. For illegal substances, we reserve the right to take further action.

Drugs, alcohol and certain medication impair your reaction time and balance - on trails with jumps, drops and other riders around you, that's a real risk. You should only ride completely sober and never under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you're taking medication that affects your concentration or reactions, you shouldn't ride that day either.

We take this seriously: anyone visibly under the influence will not be allowed on the trails.

Smoking (including e-cigarettes/vapes) is fine outdoors on the grounds - but not on trails, at lifts, in queues or inside buildings. Please dispose of your cigarette butts in an ashtray or bin - or bring a pocket ashtray.

Anyone who doesn't follow the rules can expect ticket confiscation and removal from the park - without refund. This applies to all violations, from riding without a helmet to ignoring trail closures.

For illegal substances (drugs), we also reserve the right to take further legal action.

This isn't about being strict for the sake of it - it's about keeping everyone safe and relaxed on the trails. The vast majority of riders are great. But anyone who endangers others will be asked to leave.

Strecken & Trails

FAQs

Yes - sometimes you need to catch your breath, take a look or check a section. But please only stop at clearly visible spots on the trail edge where riders behind you can see you in good time. Move your bike to the side and make sure there's a clear line of sight uphill.

Never stop in landings, behind crests or in corners - nobody can see you there in time. This is one of the most common causes of accidents in the bike park.

Overtaking on the trail is generally not encouraged - but in reality it can't always be avoided, e.g. when someone is riding very slowly or has stopped. If you do overtake, only under these conditions:

- There is clearly enough space to pass safely.
- You don't endanger anyone - neither the other rider nor yourself.
- You overtake at a clear, visible spot, not in corners, landings or behind crests.

When in doubt: keep your distance and be patient. The trail belongs to everyone - and a few seconds of waiting beat a collision.

Patience and respect. If someone ahead of you is riding slower, keep your distance and wait for a safe opportunity. Everyone rides at their own pace - that's perfectly fine. Tailgating helps nobody and makes things unsafe for everyone.

Before dropping into a trail: give slower riders a head start so you don't catch up immediately. If a trail keeps getting crowded, just pick a different one - we've got plenty of options for every speed.

The strong look out for the less experienced, the fast show respect to the slower - that's how we roll here.

No - pedestrians are not allowed on the bike trails. It's too dangerous as riders can come from above at any time. If you want to check out a trail first, look at the trail map online or simply ride it slowly on your first run. We recommend that anyway: new trail, first run, take it easy - no stress. You're in control.

Yes! Our trail crew is out in the park every day working on the trails - from reshaping berms to smoothing braking bumps and maintaining features. The team puts real passion into the park and keeps everything in the best possible condition.

That said: natural trails change throughout the day and the season - roots get exposed, rocks shift, braking bumps form. Always ride within your line of sight and expect that a trail may have changed since your last run.

Yes, and noticeably so. In the morning trails are often damp and grippy - by the afternoon they're dusty and loose. The ground in Winterberg is naturally very dry and rocky, which means the surface changes significantly throughout the day. On top of that, braking bumps develop at busy spots - sometimes within just a few hours. Stay alert, expect changing conditions and adjust your speed.

Not necessarily - but it makes a huge difference on demanding trails. A downhill bike with 180-200 mm travel is the best choice for black trails like the iXS Downhill Line or BLACK LINE 1.0. The long travel, stable geometry and braking power give you much more safety and control on steep, technical sections.

For green and blue trails, an enduro is perfectly fine - no DH bike needed.

Want to try one? You can rent current Ghost downhill bikes at the Bikestation.

BLACK LINE 1.0 is the steepest trail at Bikepark Winterberg - black-rated and for experienced riders only. It gets seriously steep, and full body protection is mandatory.

Our tip: ride the red trails confidently and cleanly before taking on the BLACK LINE. The iXS Downhill Line is also black-rated and no joke either. Both trails reward you with a real adrenaline rush - but only if you bring the right skills and equipment.

Here's a quick guide - pick what suits you:

First time at a bike park? Start with the green trails: Beginner & Kids Area, Fairy Trail and Schneewittchen Trail. Wide, relaxed, no pressure - perfect for getting a feel for the park.

Beginner with some experience? The blue trails KyrHill, SRAM Flow Country and Fly By offer first features and lots of flow. Great fun without being overwhelming.

Intermediate? The red trails get more technical: Freeride, North Shore, Forrest Stump, Rocky Waldboa and Shreddy Mörphy offer natural lines with real enduro character. The Slopestyle Area and Jolli Jumper are perfect if you like getting airborne.

Expert? The black trails iXS Downhill Line and BLACK LINE 1.0 are for experienced riders - steep, technical, full body protection mandatory. This is where it gets serious.

Three lifts:
- Panoramabahn: 4-seater chairlift, ~500 m, 67 m elevation, ~2 min. Green and blue trails.
- Kappe Chairlift: 6-seater detachable (Doppelmayr 2013), ~190 m elevation. Red and black trails.
- Schneewittchen Lift: 6-seater detachable with conveyor belt. Beginners and families.

Yes. A minimum height of 1.25 m is required to use the chairlifts safely. Smaller children can use the Beginner & Kids Area, which is accessible without a lift.

We strongly recommend it. When transporting your bike on the chairlift, the front wheel is placed in a carrier. On some models the front mudguard is too long and can get damaged during loading. Best to remove it beforehand and stow it in your backpack or attach it to the frame.

Yes! The bike wash station at the Kappe base station has the same front wheel carriers used on the lift. You can practise loading your bike there at your own pace, stress-free. And don't worry: at the lift itself, our lift staff are attentive and happy to help you load and unload.

Mit Kindern im Bikepark

FAQs

Minimum age: 6 years.
- Under 10*: Only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on the trail. We recommend the Beginner & Kids Area and green trails.
- 10-15*: Riding alone is possible. Accompanied riding is recommended. A parent/guardian must be present in the park.
- 16+: Regular entry, no accompaniment needed.

* Consent form (ages 10-15): A signed consent form must be carried at all times (download in advance or fill out at the ticket desk). You don't need to show it proactively - but it must be presented when our crew asks. Checked in case of conspicuous behaviour; without the form, the ticket will be confiscated. The form has two separate sections: one for tickets (bikepark usage) and one for bike rental. Protectors can be rented by minors without a consent form - safety gear shouldn't be held up by paperwork.

Yes. Children under 1.25 m may only use the lift when accompanied. This means an adult rides the chairlift together with the child, ensuring little riders get to the top safely.

No. All forms of child transport on the bike trails are prohibited, including:
- Child seats (front and rear)
- Shotgun seats (top-tube mount)
- Trailers and trail-a-bikes
- Cargo bikes with child transport
- Child carrier backpacks

The terrain is too steep and rough - a crash with a child on board can have serious consequences. For little ones there's the Beginner & Kids Area: flat, wide, and perfect for first experiences on their own (from age 6).

The download is available in our FAQ under "Downloads & Links."

E-Bikes

FAQs

Yes. Please note the lift weight limit of 30 kg per bike. Not sure if your e-bike is under 30 kg? You can weigh it at the Bikestation.

No. All bike trails are one-way downhill only. Riding or pushing uphill on the trails is prohibited. We do not offer uphill trails. For uphill access, please use the lifts or public roads. If you ride up under your own power (e.g. by e-bike), a trail-use ticket is sufficient - available at the Bikestation.

Currently we have no e-bikes in our rental fleet - it's made up entirely of non-motorized Ghost bikes. Whether that will change in the future, we can't say yet.

We also can't carry out e-drive diagnostics (motor, battery, control electronics) in our workshop - we don't have the diagnostic equipment. If you need a diagnosis, head to PRO-Biker in Winterberg - they're set up for it.

No - our workshop doesn't have diagnostic equipment for e-drive systems. We can't read or repair motors, batteries or control electronics.

If you need an e-drive diagnosis, head to PRO-Biker in Winterberg - they have the right tools for it.

- Knee/shin guards: iXS Hex Knee

Available individually or as a set - sets save you money. Book online in advance or walk in at the Bikestation (subject to availability).

Shop - for purchase: At the Bikestation you'll find gloves & MTB goggles by 100%, Schwalbe tyres (e.g. Bikepark Super Downhill, Super Gravity), SRAM/RockShox spare parts, helmets, protectors, merch, GoPros, mounts & accessories. Plus selected second-hand parts.

Definitely recommended. Walk-in rental is possible - but subject to availability. Our fleet has around 70 bikes, and popular sizes go fast on busy days (weekends, holidays, school breaks). Walk-ins take what's left - and that may not be an optimal fit.

Why book online?
- The shop only shows bikes actually available on your chosen date - including size recommendations, specs and intended use.
- You enter your height and weight - so we find the right frame size and set up the suspension to match.
- Your bike is prepared, adjusted and ready to ride when you arrive. No waiting, no stress.
- Plans change? Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup.

Not sure which bike suits you? Our Bike Finder shows you the right model in 30 seconds - by experience level, preferred trails or body size.

How quickly does it sell out? On regular weekends and holidays, often about 2 weeks in advance. During school holidays, much faster - expect around 6 weeks.

Tip: From 13:30, we offer remaining bikes on site at half price - subject to availability, just ask at the Bikestation.

We set up the suspension, brake levers and cockpit for you - tuned to your weight and riding style. Please don't adjust or repair anything yourself and don't take the bike to a third-party workshop.

There's an important reason: our Ghost Poacha bikes, for example, have carbon frames where torque values are safety-critical. Over-tighten a bolt and the frame can crack. Under-tighten it and the bolt works loose on the trail - both are serious safety risks. That's why we use torque wrenches and know the exact specs for every part.

If something doesn't feel right: just come straight to the Bikestation. We'll readjust, swap or sort it out - that's our job and it's usually quick.

Exclusively at Bikepark Winterberg. Our bikes are not road-legal and must not be used on public roads. Rental bikes must also not be taken to other bike parks or the trail park.

Yes! Via our online shop you can reserve and pay for bikes, helmets, knee guards and protectors individually or as a set in advance. Spontaneous rental on site is also possible - just come to the Bikestation (subject to availability).

Yes. Our adult and youth bikes (Ghost POACHA, Ghost Riot Youth) are approved for a maximum body weight of 120 kg. Please understand that we cannot make exceptions for safety reasons.

Insurance: Damage to rental equipment (bike and safety gear) is covered up to EUR 250 per incident. This means if something breaks during normal riding, we cover the costs up to that limit. Beyond that, you're liable as the renter per our rental terms. Gross negligence or intentional damage are not covered.

Data collection: For the rental agreement we need a valid ID card or passport for identity verification. We only record your name and address - no ID number, no copy and no photo of your document. Your data is stored for 10 years per order on German servers and is not shared with third parties.

Yes. You can cancel your rental booking free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup and receive a full refund. Just cancel in your account or give us a quick call.

1. Arrive & check in: Give your surname at the reception in the Bikestation or show your booking confirmation. Please bring a valid ID.

2. Rental agreement & payment: Before the handover, you'll sign the rental agreement. If you haven't paid online, you can also pay in cash at the counter.

3. Handover & check: A crew member answers any questions and hands over your rented safety gear and your bike - adjusted to your specs, function-checked and with a brief introduction.

4. Suspension setup (free service): If you like, we'll help dial in your suspension - e.g. using the RockShox Setup Station. So your bike is perfectly tuned from the very first run. Subject to availability and staffing.

1. Quick wash: Rinse the bike at one of our bike-wash stations. This speeds up the return and lets us spot damage immediately - avoids waiting times if we need a full clean.

2. Straight to the Bikestation: Bring the bike directly to the station after washing. We'll do a return check (fit, function, visible damage).

Sure! Our bikes come with flat pedals. If you prefer clipless pedals, just bring your own. You can select this option during the booking process - we'll fit your pedals before handover so your bike is ready to ride.

Yes! In Germany the front brake defaults to the left lever (Continental setup). If you're used to the opposite - e.g. front brake on the right (UK-style, also called Moto setup) - we can swap the levers for you. Just select the option during the booking process and we'll prepare your bike accordingly. Common for riders used to riding abroad or coming from motorcycling: right = front. Just let us know.

Yes, for multi-day rentals you can take the bike to your accommodation - but you're responsible for securing it yourself. In that case it's not covered by our insurance. If stolen, it must be replaced at your expense.

Alternative: Bring the bike back to the Bikestation by 18:00 for secure storage. Pick it up again from 09:00 the next morning - fully insured while with us.

Save on safety gear sets: Book helmet, protectors and knee guards together as a set and you'll pay less than booking each item individually. Check set prices in the price overview.

Hostel Winterberg guests: 10% off bikes and safety gear (not tickets). The discount also applies on top of already reduced set prices. You'll receive your discount code by email after booking your stay at Hostel Winterberg.

Multi-day discounts on bikes? No - the daily bike rate stays the same whether you book one day or several.

Werkstatt & Bike-Service

FAQs

Our workshop at the Bikestation helps with repairs on your own bike. Acceptance from 11:00 to 16:00 (outside these hours we handle rental bike pickup and returns). Important: Our rental fleet always has priority - if a fleet bike needs attention, ongoing repairs may be paused. We only stock parts from our partners (SRAM, RockShox, Schwalbe, iXS etc.) - no Shimano or Magura spares or brake bleeding service, for example.

Guideline rate of EUR 10 per 10 minutes (not billed per exact minute) - and we're happy to cut you some slack.

We do not service Magura brakes, FOX forks/shocks, or Shimano drivetrains/brakes. For these brands, check out nearby bike shops in Winterberg, e.g. Liftstation, ProBiker, Bikeverleih Schneider or Bikeverleih Klante.

Small repairs are usually done on the spot while you wait or take a run. For larger repairs that need more time, we'll let you know by phone or arrange a pickup. Just leave your mobile number when you drop off your bike - we'll get in touch as soon as it's ready.

Yes! The Bikestation has SRAM AXS Swap Stations with fully charged batteries always ready to swap. Drop off your empty battery, grab a full one, keep riding. No waiting, no charging cable needed.

Whether it's your drivetrain or Reverb dropper post: if your AXS battery runs low, you'll be back up and running in under a minute.

Yes - but not every season. We've switched to a two-season cycle. The reason: our bikes last longer than one season, and we want to be more sustainable with our equipment. Instead of replacing the fleet every year, we ride it for two seasons, maintain it thoroughly - and sell when the time is right.

We got new bikes for the 2026 season. The next sale is expected in winter/spring 2027/2028.

We announce sales via news posts on our website and social media. The next sale (expected 2027/2028) will for the first time be available online - with shipping or local pickup. We also host dedicated garage sale events on site, announced via news and social media.

Prices are usually well below RRP - exactly how much depends on the condition and age of each bike. Every bike is checked and serviced by our workshop before the sale. Final prices are set after inspection and will be viewable online.

The area in front of the Bikestation is an emergency access route and rescue zone. Ambulances need to get through here - e.g. if something happens at the practice area. So please: no parking, no stopping, and don't leave bikes lying on the road in front of the Bikestation. Park your bike along the side of the practice area or in the bike racks.

Panoramabahn lower station: toilets.
Panoramacafé (Erlebnisberg Kappe): accessible toilets and baby changing room.
P3 Bremberg (at the climbing forest): toilets.

You're also welcome to bring your own food and drinks.

Yes, on a leash within the bike-park area. Not on the trails and not in/on the lifts. Water stations for dogs can be found at the bike station and at the lower station of the Panoramabahn.

Please keep in mind: There are children and visitors around who may be afraid of dogs. Keep your dogs close and be considerate of each other - that way it works for everyone.

Dogs are welcome on a leash at Erlebnisberg Kappe - including on the Panorama Adventure Bridge. Dogs are not allowed at the children's playground or attractions like the summer toboggan run, climbing park or FlyLine.

Good to know: there's a spiral staircase at the end of the bridge. Depending on your dog's size, you may need to carry them or take the alternative route. Water is available at the Panoramabahn base station - right next to the bike park.

Right next to the park you'll find the Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe - just a few minutes' walk from the bike park. 49 rooms for up to 150 guests, from single and double rooms to shared rooms for groups. The hostel has its own bike cellar with tools for small repairs, a drying room, free Wi-Fi, a sauna and even a party cellar with a tap system. Ideal for groups, school classes and anyone riding for several days. Bonus: your booking confirmation includes a code for 10% off bikes and safety gear rental.

Right next to the bike park you'll also find the Campingplatz Winterberg - perfect if you're arriving with a tent or campervan. Winterberg has plenty more hotels, holiday apartments and guesthouses. Tip: book early, especially on weekends and during school holidays!

No. Wild camping, sleeping in your car or campervan at the Bremberg car parks (P2/P3/P4) and the Kappe car park is not permitted. The car parks are managed by the City of Winterberg and are not designated pitches.

Also: no open fires, no barbecues, no camping stoves in the car parks or anywhere on the bike park grounds. We're in a forested area - fire risk is real.

If you're arriving with a tent, van or campervan, please use the Campingplatz Winterberg right next door. They have pitches, tent sites, sanitary facilities, laundry and everything you need.

Winterberg has several bike shops and rentals if you need spare parts, service or a different bike:

- Liftstation (liftstation.eu) - streetwear, safety gear & accessories in Winterberg town.
- PRO-Biker - bike rental and shop right in Winterberg. Mountain bikes, e-bikes, accessories and workshop.
- Bikeverleih Schneider - right at the bike park and trail park, wide range of mountain bikes, e-bikes and accessories.
- Bike Klante - multiple locations, including one at the Schneewittchenhaus right by the bike park. Enduro bikes, touring bikes and e-bikes.

And of course we have our own shop at the Bikestation (gloves, goggles, helmets, protectors, tyres, spare parts, merch, GoPros and more) plus a workshop for repairs using parts from our partners (SRAM, RockShox, Schwalbe, iXS).

Erlebnisberg Kappe is more than just the bike park - perfect if not everyone in your group wants to ride or you fancy a rest day:

- Panorama Adventure Bridge: A walkway 20 metres above the treetops with panoramic views of Winterberg and the Sauerland. Includes five fun elements like swaying bridges and swinging platforms.
- Climbing Forest: Over 70 stations across seven courses at varying difficulty levels - up to 11 metres high. Kids aged 11+ can climb independently thanks to the Click-it safety system.
- FlyLine: Glide 1,000 metres through the forest at 11 metres height - right above the bike park. Family-friendly, all ages welcome.
- Summer Toboggan: 700 metres of fast-paced fun - through bends, over bridges and jumps.
- Adventure Golf, trampolines, mini excavators and kids' cars: Plus Kappi's Playground for the little ones.
- Kappe Express: A leisurely train tour through Winterberg.

For food and drinks, there's the Panorama Café-Restaurant with sun terrace and a kiosk for snacks and drinks.

FAQs

Sure - filming and photography for private use are welcome any time. Whether it's a GoPro on your helmet, phone at the trailside or camera in your bag: capture your memories!

Just make sure you only stop in safe spots where you won't obstruct or endanger anyone. Tripods, rigs and larger setups don't belong on the trail - they can be a hazard for other riders. And please respect other people's privacy: if you're filming or photographing other riders, get a quick OK first.

YouTubers, social media creators and the like: Go ahead, film and post! No permission needed. We'd love a quick heads-up and a visit to the Bikestation though - you never know what might come of it.

Commercial productions (companies, agencies, advertising shoots etc.) require prior approval. Email us at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de with a brief description of your project. The contracting party is Mountainbike-Park Winterberg GmbH & Co. KG. Unauthorized commercial use may be subject to sanctions.

Generally no. Even though the bike park is private property, German and European drone regulations apply in full:

- EU Drone Regulation (EU 2019/947): Registration with the German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA) and a valid EU remote pilot certificate (A1/A3 or A2 depending on category) are mandatory.
- Insurance requirement (§ 43 LuftVG): Drone liability insurance is legally required for every drone - including small models.
- Max. flight altitude: 120 m above ground.
- Privacy rights: Filming or photographing people without consent is prohibited. This applies even if there is merely the impression that recordings could be made.
- Private property: Flyovers require the landowner's permission (§ 1004 BGB).

Exceptions are granted in writing only, usually outside operating hours, and with all required documentation (EU remote pilot certificate, liability insurance, spotter, crew briefing). Requests to themother@bikepark-winterberg.de.

Gruppen & Schulklassen

FAQs

From 10 people you're officially a group. Please get in touch at least 14 days in advance via email to themother@bikepark-winterberg.de so we can prepare everything. On the day, please arrive together at the Bikestation for check-in 30 minutes before your start. There's a short safety briefing (approx. 10 min) - mandatory for groups before hitting the trails.

If your group includes minors, we recommend having enough supervisors. Our recommendation: for children up to 14, roughly one supervisor per 8 children (1:8). For youths aged 15 to 17, roughly one supervisor per 10 youths (1:10). Supervisors should be of legal age and comfortable navigating the bike park environment.

We'll work that out with you individually. There are two options: either everyone buys their own ticket, or we issue a group invoice for the whole party. Just let us know when you register what works best - we're flexible.

Notfall & Fundsachen

FAQs

Call our emergency number: +49 (0) 2981 57 90 688. No extension, no menu - you'll be connected directly to the bike park's emergency team. In case of a life-threatening situation, always call 112 first.

You'll also find the emergency number on your lift card - so you always have it with you.

During operating hours a qualified paramedic is on site who can also treat minor wounds. If you're hurt or need help, just come to the Bikestation - we can help there too.

Sure, no problem. Just come to the Bikestation and ask the crew - we have charging options available. If you need to make a phone call, you're welcome to use our landline too. We're happy to help.

Just come to the counter at the Bikestation and ask. We collect everything found on trails or around the grounds. If you notice something's missing after your visit, get in touch within 7 days. After that, lost items are handed to the Panorama Adventure Bridge desk, and after 4 weeks to the Winterberg lost property office.

Take a breath first. Then secure the spot so nobody else rides into the situation. Exchange contact details and inform the crew - either at the lift or at the Bikestation. If any trail features or park infrastructure were damaged, please let us know right away so we can make it safe.

No stress - it happens. Please come straight to the Bikestation and let us know. We'll look at the bike together and assess the damage fairly. Damage up to EUR 250 is covered by insurance - beyond that you're liable per the rental terms. Important: please don't repair anything yourself and don't take the bike to a third-party workshop. We'll take care of it.

FAQs

Yes, no problem - an account is not required. Just click "Proceed to checkout" and order as a guest. In step 4 of the checkout ("Review & submit order"), you can optionally create an account with a single click - with perks like order history, invoice downloads, shipment tracking and saved addresses. And that's just the start: we're planning to add more personal features around your time at the bikepark. Worth it!

The easiest and fastest way is through our online shop at bikepark-winterberg.de. We've designed the ordering process to be as clear, supportive and simple as possible - just give it a try.

Phone orders are possible in principle, but the online shop is the better choice for standard orders - you can see availability, sizes and prices at a glance.

Groups are welcome to place orders by email to themother@bikepark-winterberg.de - especially for larger quantities or custom selections.

We offer the following payment options:

At the Bikestation, you can pay by cash or common debit and credit cards (American Express excluded). The ticket machine accepts card payments only.

In our online shop, you can use PayPal (Express, Pay Later & Installments), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank transfer or credit card via Idealo.

Budget tip: Parking is subject to fees - at the large car park P3 only card payments are accepted, at the machines at the Kappe only cash.

Bikestation: Cash, debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay
Online shop: PayPal, PayPal Express, PayPal Pay Later, PayPal Installments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer (Idealo), credit card (Idealo)
Ticket machine: Debit card, credit card
Parking Kappe: Cash
Parking P2, P3, P4: Debit card, credit card

That's not possible via your account or online - but we can change the payment method for you in our system. Just email themother@bikepark-winterberg.de or give us a call and we'll sort it out.

If you chose bank transfer as your payment method, you'll find our bank details in the order confirmation and invoice sent by email. Important: always include your order number as payment reference so we can match the payment. International transfers may incur bank fees.

We don't send a separate payment confirmation. Once your order is on its way, you'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking number by email - so you'll know everything went through and can track your package.

No, you can combine your voucher with any payment method. Only exception: with bank transfer, the voucher is activated after payment is received. The voucher can't be redeemed at the ticket machine - just redeem it at the Bikestation.

Sure - as long as your order hasn't shipped yet, cancellation is no problem. Just email us at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de. The refund will be processed via your original payment method within a few business days.

Refunds are always processed via your original payment method. Once we've received and checked your return, we'll process the refund - this usually takes up to 10 business days. Depending on your payment provider, it may take a few more days for the amount to appear in your account.

Of course! Just select pickup as the shipping method at checkout. Once your order is ready, we'll send you an email - usually takes 1-2 business days. Then pick it up at the Bikestation. You can pay at pickup by cash, debit card, credit card or voucher.

After your order, you'll receive three emails from us: order confirmation, invoice and - once your package is on its way - a shipping confirmation with tracking link. Use the link to check where your package is at any time. If you have a customer account, you can also find tracking info there. Nothing received? Check your spam folder.

That's annoying - please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Easiest way: reply directly to your shipping confirmation email, briefly describe the damage and attach 1-2 photos. We'll take care of the rest.

If you can see the package is damaged at handover, you have two options: refuse delivery - it goes straight back to us. Or open it in front of the driver and document the damage. Either way, drop us a quick email at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de so we can sort it out.

Standard shipping is via DHL (packages up to 30 kg, max. 120 x 60 x 60 cm). Large or bulky items and used bikes are shipped via freight forwarding.

If you have an account, you can update your details anytime under "My Account" - address, name, email, no problem.

Already placed an order and need to change the address? Email us as soon as possible at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de - as long as it hasn't shipped yet, we can adjust it.

No worries! Go to the login page and click "Forgot password". You'll receive a reset link by email to set a new password. If the email doesn't arrive: check your spam folder. Still no luck? Email us at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de and we'll sort it out.

Depends on the status:

Not yet shipped? Email us quickly at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de with your order number and what needs changing. We'll see what we can do.

Already shipped? Then changes are unfortunately no longer possible. But you can return the item after delivery and place a new order. All details in our "Returns" FAQ section.

Yes, anytime. Log in, go to "My Account" and click "Delete account" at the bottom left. After a quick confirmation, your account is deleted.

Good to know: if you have existing orders and invoices, these will continue to be stored with your customer data in our billing system (German servers) - we're legally required to do so. Printed documents such as rental agreements are also kept securely in our archive for 10 years, after which they are properly destroyed.

Gutscheine

FAQs

We offer digital gift vouchers in two variants:

Flex Voucher: Choose your own amount - from EUR 5 to 500. Ideal if you want to cover a full bike park day (ticket + rental + food) or know exactly what the recipient needs.

Fix Voucher: Set amounts of 50, 100 or 200 EUR - perfect for spontaneous gifts when you need something quick.

Online: In our online shop at bikepark-winterberg.de - around the clock, even outside the season. Pay via PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or credit card.

On site: At the Bikestation ticket desk during opening hours. There you'll get a nice printed version in an envelope - perfect for gifting. Cash payment also accepted.

After purchasing online, you'll receive your voucher as a PDF by email - usually within minutes, at most within one hour. The PDF contains the voucher code, the amount and the expiry date. You can print it or simply show it on your phone.

When buying on site at the Bikestation, you'll get the voucher as a printed version in an envelope - ready to take with you.

Easy: add your items to the cart and enter the voucher code at checkout. The amount is automatically deducted from the total. If the balance doesn't cover the full order, just pay the rest with any available payment method. Any remaining balance stays on the code.

Yes! Just show your voucher at the Bikestation ticket desk - either printed or as a PDF on your phone. The crew scans the code, deducts the amount and lets you know how much balance remains.

Important: The voucher cannot be redeemed at the ticket machine. If you want to pay with a voucher, get your ticket at the Bikestation ticket desk.

Pretty much everything we offer: tickets, rentals (bikes and safety gear), merch (tees, hoodies, caps), spare parts and accessories from the shop, and workshop services. Online and on site - the voucher works wherever you pay with us.

The voucher is not valid at:

Panorama Café & Restaurant
Panorama Imbiss & Containerbar
Hostel Erlebnisberg Kappe
Erlebnisberg Kappe attractions (climbing park, FlyLine, summer toboggan etc.)
Parking fees

The voucher is redeemable exclusively for bike park products - tickets, rentals, shop and workshop.

No, you don't have to. The PDF on your phone is perfectly fine - just show it at the desk and have the code scanned. If you'd like to gift it, you can of course print it out - or buy the nice printed version in an envelope directly at the Bikestation.

Yes, no problem. You don't have to use the full amount at once. The remaining balance stays on the code and can be used on your next visit or order - as many times as you like until the balance is used up.

Your voucher is valid for 36 months (3 years) from the date of issue. The date is printed on the voucher PDF. Within that time you can redeem it as often and in as many portions as you like. After the 36 months, any remaining balance expires - an extension is unfortunately not possible.

No - cancellation, return or cash payout of the voucher is unfortunately not possible. This also applies to any remaining balance. The reason: each voucher has a personalised code that is activated upon issue.

Don't worry. It's usually a typo or extra spaces. Try this:

• Enter the code completely and without spaces - best to copy & paste directly from the email.
• Check that the voucher is still valid (36 months from issue) and that there's still balance remaining.

If it still doesn't work, email us at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de with your voucher code and order number. We'll look into it and get back to you as soon as possible.

Merchandise

FAQs

Official Bikepark Winterberg merchandise - by us, for the community. T-shirts, hoodies, caps and selected accessories. All with the BPW branding you know and love. We regularly expand the range - so it's worth checking back from time to time.

In the online shop you'll find our core range - the merch that's always available. At the Bikestation on site, we also have some special extras. From time to time we drop small collections that are only available at the Bikestation during the season. Off-season, these items also become available in the online shop.

Drop by the Bikestation! End-of-line collections, one-off items and special discounts are always available on site. Especially if a size or colour is missing online, it's worth checking in person - you'll often find what you're looking for.

Our merch (clothing/streetwear) like hoodies and T-shirts tends to fit regular to loose - so normal to relaxed. Exact sizing and fit details can be found in the product descriptions.

All over the world - but clothing mainly in Europe, especially Spain and Portugal. We work with established producers and make sure to use only blanks from fair and sustainable production. Further processing - printing, embroidery, finishing - also takes place in Europe.

Honestly: not enough for the challenges we face today. We know we have catching up to do, and we're increasingly focusing on sustainability and organic production - but we're just getting started in this area and still learning.

What we're already doing: we use fair blanks, have clothing mainly produced in Europe and are working on making our supply chains more sustainable step by step. It's a journey, not a switch - but we take it seriously and will keep you posted on our progress!

We focus on good quality, but our merch is streetwear - so it's only partially suitable for riding. For proper bike clothing, check out the Bikestation, where we carry a limited range. Otherwise, the shops in Winterberg offer a wider selection. We also have jerseys for rent (on site only) - just ask at the Bikestation.

Your merch is securely packaged and shipped via DHL. You'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking link by email so you always know where your package is. Delivery within Germany usually takes 1-3 business days.

Pro tip: Order your merch as Click & Collect together with your ticket and pick up your order at the Bikestation after your bikepark day. Saves shipping costs and everything's in one place.

Retouren & Rückgabe

FAQs

Yes, of course. For online orders, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from receipt - no reason needed. Only requirement: the item must be unused, complete and in its original packaging. Just email themother@bikepark-winterberg.de and we'll sort out the rest.

Pretty straightforward:

1. Email us at themother@bikepark-winterberg.de with your order number and reason for the return.
2. We'll get back to you with return instructions.
3. Ship the item back securely packaged.
4. After receipt and inspection, we'll refund via your original payment method.

From email to refund, it usually doesn't take long - we try to process everything as quickly as possible.

Depends on the situation: for a standard withdrawal, return shipping is on you. But if we shipped a defective or wrong item, we'll of course cover the costs. In that case, just get in touch before sending it back.

Once your return has arrived and been checked, we'll refund via your original payment method. Processing on our end usually takes up to 10 business days. Depending on your payment provider (PayPal, bank, credit card), it may take a few more days for the money to appear in your account.

Absolutely - and it's actually a pretty smart move! If you have a bikepark day planned, just order your merch home beforehand, try everything on at your own pace and pack up whatever doesn't fit. Drop it off at the Bikestation, we'll handle the refund - and you save on return shipping costs.

Important timing note: the 14-day withdrawal period from receipt still applies for in-person returns too. So plan your visit within the deadline.

Tickets and vouchers aren't standard shop items - special rules apply:

Bikepark tickets: Unused tickets can be refunded on the same day. Full details in our "Refunds & Rebooking" FAQ section.

Vouchers: Vouchers are excluded from withdrawal from the moment of purchase, as they are delivered digitally via email. They are valid for 36 months.
